The Loneliness of the Passion Project
Hey creators welcome back to The Createher Files! Today we’re planting seeds in the garden of life. I’m a cheesy gal. Creating something from nothing is a gift like no other. It brings joy, fulfillment, obvious growth, but it can also bring loneliness. Everyone doesn’t, nor can they, understand what it’s like to have your unique gift or calling. You’re pouring your heart into this thing—this script, this series, this brand—and sometimes it feels like no one is watching. No one is waiting for it. But you keep showing up.
Passion projects aren’t just hobbies—they’re soul-led work.
You’re making something because you have to, not because there’s demand for it yet.
This can create a real sense of emotional isolation:
No validation loop.
No external pressure = no external reward.
Sometimes you're the only one who believes in it right now.
Sometimes you have to remind yourself that “I made this because I needed it to exist. Not because anyone asked me to.”
And sometimes that comes at a cost. There is grief in the obscurity: “Why haven’t they found it? Why isn’t it resonating yet?” Why aren’t my family and friends supporting my posts or re-sharing to their stories, etc.?
You start to doubt your own taste or timing.
You can feel like a ghost—creating in rooms where no one claps.
It can take a toll:
The silence after you post.
Watching others get attention for things that feel surface-level.
Wondering if you’re “too early” or “too niche” or “just not good enough.”
You’re planting. Watering. Tending to soil. But the buds aren’t visible yet.
I’m here to remind you that:
Not all blooms are immediate.
Some things have longer germination cycles—so does your project.
The fact that it hasn’t taken off yet doesn’t mean it won’t.
Here’s how you keep going:
Anchor in your “why.” Why did this need to exist? Why you?
Create rituals of celebration. Small wins count.
Find one person who gets it. Don’t create in total isolation—build a mini-audience, even if it’s just 3 people who believe. My 6 friends who like and repost every post keep me going!
Trust the long game. Most beautiful projects start invisible.
Know that not everyone is going to support you the same way. Some are going to bring you into rooms where it happens. Some will get you jobs, some will listen to you vent and offer solutions. Some will be your seed starters, your fertilizer, your first investor.
I just want to remind you that:
“The silence doesn’t mean stop. It means you’re early. It means you're tending something rare.”
Even in loneliness, you’re not alone—other creatives are in the same quiet season as you are.
That idea you have that’s been bringing you to life is going to feed so many. Just be patient and know that your time is coming.
Go create your best life today! 💜🔑
